ROWING “EIGHTS”
EASTER CHAMPIONSHIPS EARLIER DATE DESIRED BY OTAGO I United Press Association! WELLINGTON. This Day. A request from the Otago Rowing Association that the date originally fixed for the 1939 inter-provincial Eightoared Championship be amended, was considered at a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association. It was pointed out that delegates at the annual meeting of tl e Association had made it quite c:ear that they desired the race to be held cn Easter Saturday. To keep faith with the local association it was decided to ask the Otago Association to state within a week whether it is still prepared to hold the fixture on Easter Saturday, failing which it will be necessary to offer the fixture to Canterbury for that date, the Canterbury Association having been the other association to apply for the "eights” for 1939.
