PROMPT ACTION SAVES HOUSE

Prompt action on the part of Mr A. C. Hulme, of Braeburn, his neighbour, Mr L. Eginton, and several passing motorists saved Mr Hulme’s house from destruction early on Saturday afternoon. The flames had a good hold at one corner of the building above the bathroom. A bucket brigade was formed from the river four ohains away and after a desperate half hour’s work the flames were controlled before they did any turther damage than the gutting of the bathroom. The house is an eightroomed wooden building.
