SERIOUS SITUATION

DEVELOPING IN RUTHENIA POSSIBILITY OF WAR BETWEEN GERMANY AND POLAND lU.P.A.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyrightl (Received 25th November, 1.50 p.m.) LONDON, 24th November. A situation of the greatest complexity is developing in Ruthenia. and well-informed circles do not exclude the possibility of it leading to war between Poland and Germany and possibly Hungary. It is stated officially from Pargue that Hungary is concentrating troops along the frontier, and there are also minor Polish movements. The British United Press Bratislava correspondent reports that thousands of Czech troops are concentrating on the Ruthenian frontier prepared to resist an invasion directed at the achievement of a common Polish-Hungarian frontier. The “Daily Telegraph” says that bands of Polish and Hungarian irregulars drawn from the armies created guerilla warfare in Ruthenia. It was against a sudden coup that a brusque warning was issued on 23rd November to Poland and Hungary. While German forces are reported to be held in readiness to defend the threatened frontiers, simultaneously Czechoslovakia has requested the Munich powers to immediately implement the promised guarantee of involability.
