Mr John Miller, Mayor of Invercatgill, was a visitor at last night’s meeting of the City Council, when the Mayor of Nelson. Mr G. L. Page, extended a welcome to the southern visitor.
The City Council last evening passed a motion of sympathy to the City Engineer (Mr J. G. Littlejohn) in the death of Mrs Xittlejohn, senior. Members stood as a mark of respect.
Miss Phyllis Fleming, of Endeavour street, Nelson, who for the past three years has been on the nursing staff of the Christchurch Public Hospital, was successful in the recent State examinations. Miss Fleming is now a staff nurse in the Christchurch Hospital.
Flying-Officer Orchard of Cook Strait Airways, has received notification from the Air Ministry London, that he has been promoted to the rank of Flight-Lieutenant in the Reserve of Air Force officers.
