NEW YEAR TOURNAMENT ENTRIES

A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Nelson Bowling Club was held last evening when Mr A. H. i Crawley president, occupied the chair. There were also present: Messrs G. Manson (Nelson), G. E. Piper (Maitai), E. S. Crcsswell (Motueka), Ji. P. Forster (Mapuai. W. Carter (Murchijson) and R. W. Stiles (secretary). I January 29th was accepted as the ! date for the playing of the Noble- | Adams Shield match at Nelson against the Marlborough Centre.

I Dr Noblc-Adams wrote thanking the j combined centres for a letter of sympathy in his illness.

After consideration it was -decided not to hold a centre one day’s tournament on Boxing Day. Permission was given to the Nelson and Maitai Clubs to hold club tournaments on their own greens.

It was resolved that clubs be invited to send in names for the next NobleAdams Shield, the selectors to make up the rinks from same. Clubs are not to select their own rinks.

The following entries were received for the New Year tournament: Nelson Club, 4 rinks; Maitai, 7; Wakefield, 3; Maua, 1; Seddonville, 1; Marlborough, 1. It was resolved that the date for receiving entries be extended to 28th December in order to give clubs who have not entered an opportunity of being represented at the tournament. Messrs Crawley, Stiles, Piper and Carter were appointed a committee to make the draw. It was resolved to make an effort to send six rinks to Wellington about the middle of March* and to write to clubs asking for nominations. The president reported that a goodwill tour to the West Coast would be made in February. The president wished members the compliments of the season and Mr Manson responded on behalf of the committee.

DISTRICT MATCH MAITAI CLUB BEATS RICHMOND In the District bowling match played on Saturday Mailai defeated Richmond by 57 points to 53. The results (Mailai names first) were as follows:

Gay, Wright, LaFrenlz, Piper (s) 24; Fraser, Winn, Cresscy, Grooby (s) 17. White, Forster, Perrone, Simpson (s) 17; Meads, Pickup, G. Dee, Papps (s) 17.

Freeth, Herbert, Stringer, Watson (s) 16; Poole, Lloyd, Goodman, Smith (s) 19.
