COLLEGE CRICKET
GREYMOUTH TECHNICAL DEFEAT NELSON SECOND ELEVEN
In Ihe annual cricket match between the Nelson College second eleven and Gre.ymouth Technical High School, played at Grcymouth, the home team was successful for the first time in the four years that the match has been played. Technical in the first innings made 173 runs, G. Parry contributing 34 runs. For Nelson Kennedy took five wickets for 51 runs. Nelson replied with 12G runs. Brown Hill and McLaren (25) being the chief scorers. H. Beilis took five wickets for 35 runs.
In their second innings Technical compiled 101. Beilis being the highest scorer with 33. Derham proved Ihe most successful bowler, taking five wickets for 27 runs.
Nelson then required 143 runs, but the side collapsed against the home team’s spin bowling, the total reaching only 43. None of the batsmen scored double figures. G. Parry took five wickets for 15 runs, Beilis three for 13 and R. Parry two for !).
