ASSOCIATION MiI,KINO COMPETITION DISCUSSED "IN COMMITTEE” tErom Our Own Correßpomleiit] At a mciting of the executive of the Moluoka Agricultural and Pastoral Association. held in the secretary’s oflice on Saturday evening, there were present: Messrs Ji. Teece (president>, D. Unhung. C. A. Newport, Hubert Itolyoake, E. Teece, L. Canton, E. A. .lackson, and the secretary. Mr O. C. Wilkinson, Mr John Downie, Murchison, wrote expressing regret at being unable to be present at Ihc show, and pleasure at the success with which it had been attended. A letter was received from the Southdown Sheep Society, Palmerston North suggesting that where practicable. A. and P. Associations should appoint junior judges to assist senior judges at their shows.

This suggestion was supported by the president and other members and noted for future consideration. A number of A and P Associations wrote thanking the Motueka Association for complimentary tickets on the occasion of the third annual show.

A competitor in the photography section of the show wrote enquiring whether thr- actual judging in this section had beer, carried out by a lady instead of the appointed judge. The writer also made the suggestion that the doors of the industrial section should he kept closed until the judging had been completed. DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB FINE SCORE BY RIFLEMAN L. KEELING On Saturday afternoon the Motucka Defence Rifle Club fired its first shoot for the championship and the third shoot for the Hudson Cup. Rifleman L. Kelling, who shot very consistently, registered the fine score of 101. with the possible 35 at 500yds, 34 at 300 and 32 at GOO, taking the Painter Feathers in the A grade Rifleman A. Stuart topped the score in the B grade with 85. In the Hudson Cup shoot, Rifleman L. Keiiing was top scorer with 69 in grade A: and A. Stuart, with 64, registered the highest score in B grade. On Bth January the second shoot for the T. Stevens’ Cup will be fired over 300 and 500yds, 10 shots. Scores for the championship were as follows: —

MOTUEKA WOMEN’S DIVISION SUMMER FAIR A summer fair organised by members of the Motucka branch 01 the Women's Division was held in the Division Hall on Friday The Mayor (Mr R. J. L. York) officially opened the fair. He said that although the Women's Division of the Farmers Union was an organisation that had only been in operation for a few years, its activities were known throughout the Dominion. On the various stalls the display of goods was an indication o' the zeal and co-operation of members, and he heartily congrntu-

lated them He wished the branch success in this effort and declared the fair open.

Stalls and stallholders were: Produce. Mesdames Snow and Christensen: work. Mesdames Gill and E. Canton: cakes. Mesdames Norris and G. James; jumble, Mesdames G. M. Smith and F. N. Drummond: sweets. Mrs Hogan; afternoon tea. Mesdames D. W. Talbot, Duffy. VVil.-on and S. Thompson: Christmas tree. Mesdames G. E. Smith and A. Canton

Competitions were won as follows: Hamper, A. M. Drummond: handkerchief salchet. Mr R J. L. York; teaset. Mrs G. James. Other competitions have still to be finalised.
