SUBJECTS FOR DISCUSSION

HERR HITLER AND LORD HALIFAX ALL BRITISH FORECASTS DENIED I United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copy rigbtl (Received 15th November, 10.55 a.m.) BERLIN, 14th November. The official news agency makes a statement denying all the British forecasts about the subjects for discussion between Herr Hitler and Lord Halifax. It says that there will be no weakening of the Rome-Berlin axis or the anticommunist Pact, while Germany has nothing to add to the colonial demands made through the Fuhrer. The principal British press forecast, which suggested that Herr Hitler was prepared not to press his colonial demands for ten years in return for a free hand in Central Europe, is denied. The News Agency adds that if the visit occurs in such an atmosphere the question arises as to whether it would not be better if it were postponed. MINISTERS CONFER (Received 15th November, 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, 14th November. The Prime Minister, Mr Neville Chamberlain, Mr Anthony Eden, and Lord Halifax conferred preparatory to the visit of Lord Halifax to Germany on 17th November. ANNOUNCEMENT OF VISIT WELL RECEIVED LONDON, 12th November. The Berlin correspondent of “The Times” says the announcement of Lord Halifax’s visit could not have been better received. Germany has a high respect for his qualities as a statesman who is not too deeply engrossed in petty polities. German newspapers have frequently praised his clear-sighted and unprejudiced approach to international politics and has repeatedly named him as the one “with whom Germany could talk.” An official news agency states that the basic principle of German foreign policy is to seize any opportunity to exchange ideas with any power with a view to the maintenance of peace. The “Daily Mail’s” Berlin correspondent believes Herr Hitler and Lord Halifax will discuss the problems of colonies, the Far East war, the antiBolshevist Treaty and Spain.

REPORTS OF OTHER PROJECTED CONVERSATIONS lßritish Oltieiiil Wirelesei RUGBY, 13th November. Reports in the Press of projected conversations in which the British Government would participate in several capitals in the near future are mere conjecture. The only such conversations at present in contemplation are those in which Lord Halifax will be engaged during his visit to Germany. There is no authority for a statement that Lora Halifax will proceed to Rome to meet Signor Mussolini after his visit to Berlin.
