DEATH RATE IN BRITAIN llicitish Ollieml Wirßlenn| RUGBY, 12th November The statistical review of 1936 by the Registrar-General shows that the death rate was 12 1 per thousand, which was 0.4 above the 193.6 rate, but 0.2 below that for 1933. Allowing for the fact that tlie average age of the living population is increasing the resulting corrected standardised death rate was 9.2, which is only 0.2 above the lowest rate ever recorded, that for 1935. Mortality from infectious parasitic diseases in general reached a low record of 1.17, and the tubrculosis rate declined once again to a new low record of 692 per million. The cancer rate, correcied for increasing age of the population, shows a slight rise to 1010 per million.
