BRICKLAYERS’ DISPUTE
AGREEMENT ON MAJOR POINTS CONCILIATION COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS [By Telegraph—Press Association] WELLINGTON, This Day. A fairly close agreement was reached in the dispute in the Conciliation Council between the New Zealand Federated Bricklayers’ Industrial Association of Workers and the New Zealand Federated Builders’ and Contractors Industrial Association of Employers and others. Wages were agreed on at the rate of 2s 9d an hour, to come into operation from 17th May, 1937. All other provisions in the agreement are to operate on the date on which the award is made by the Court of Arbitration. Ordinary overtime was fixed at time and a half, with double time for work done among boilers, ovens and so on, and time and a half for certain kinds of dangerous or uncomfortable work. Clauses relating to travelling time for suburban and country work will be referred to the Court.
