COOK STRAIT AIRWAYS
COMPLETE ENGINE OVERHAUL The time is approaching for completed overhaul of Cook Strait Airways’ engines. One new engine was installed in ZK-AED last week to enable this work to be commenced.. Trials with the one new engine in the plane were made last Wednesday over towards Mapua, and when the engineer was satisfied that everything was in order, the wireless equipment was tested out and adjusted, and for this purpose the machine was flown over the city several times. The new D.H. Dragon Rapide for Cook Strait Airways is due to be shipped from England at the end of this month. It will be of 3001bs additional carrying capacity, and this will entail an additional area for landing and taking off in the new aerodrome. The plane will be assembled at Nelson and will enter the Nelson-Blen-heim-Wellington run while the machines now in use are overhauled. It will then be used on the Nelson, Westport, Greymouth, Hokitika service.
