THE WEATHER
CLOUDY WITH INTERMITTENT RAIN This morning’s forecast predicted cloudy to overcast weather, at places misty or foggy, with intermittent rain, some heavy faffs being likely and on the ranges snow. The weather was unsettled but milder in Nelson during the week-end. Saturday afternoon was pleasantly sunny, but rain fell during the night and continued on Sunday morning. The weather cleared somewhat in the afternoon, but there was only half an hour’s sunshine. On Saturday 4 hours 50 minutes of sunshine were recorded. In the evening the sky cleared while fog lay in the valleys. This morning ■was again murky and overcast, with the sun breaking through at intervals. The rainfall during the week-end amounted to 80 points in Nelson and 75 points at the Government Research Orchard. The barometer fell from 30.23 on Saturday to 29.93 yesterday, and to-day’s reading showed a slight rise to 29.95.
Pressure fell throughout New Zealand during the week-end with subsequent rain, which was general but light. Skies this morning were mainly overcast and temperatures mild.
