HOCKEY
THE NELSON ASSOCIATION MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING A meeting of the Management Committee of the Nelson Hockey Association was held in Messrs Lock Bros’ rooms. Those present were: Messrs J. W. Russell (in the chair), C. Lipscombc, A. Nightingale, H. BourneWebb, A. Forster, L. Best, and the secretary, R. Frost. It was reported that there is a new ground available at Tahuna. and the first match to be played there will be a junior game on Saturday at 2.30 p.m.
It was decided to convene a meeting to ascertain whether sufficient support is forthcoming to raise the necessary capital to send a ladies’ team to Blenheim for the Dominion tourney to be held there shortly. It was decided to send an invitation to the Motueka Sub-Association to arrange for school boys’ representative games against local primary school teams to be held in Nelson at an early date. An invitation was received from the Motueka Sub-Association for any team that has a bye. to play a Motueka team correspondingly placed on that day, at Motueka. The Management Committee has granted permission for the teams to make the necessary arrangements with the secretary to do so. Entries were received and complete arrangements were made for the men’s six-a-side competition to be held or; the King’s Birthday, 23rd June. The Management Committee decided to award buttons for the winning teams in the senior, junior and ladies’ competitions. It was reported at the meeting that some of the junior playing teams on Saturday were not turning out in their proper colours, and this was causing some contusion from the point of view of umpiring. The Committee is advising all clubs to take the matter up, and that as far as possible for all teams to turn out properly attired in the uniform colour of the club.
