DRIVER EXONERATED
• ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF OLD MAN ( By Telegraph—Pre“s Association) PALMERSTON N., This Day. A verdict completely exonerating a car driver, John Davidson Seed, a salesman, was returned by the coroner at the inquest into the death of Frederick William Craig, aged 00 years, who died on Ist May from severe injuries, through being accidentally knocked down by a car in Church Street. The coroner said that he was satisfied that visibility on the night of the accident was very bad. The car was not being driven at an excessive speed and the driver was apparently exercising reasonable care and keeping a careful lookout. Deceased on the other hand persisted in attempting to cross the road under adverse conditions, despite an offer of assistance. It did not appear that deceased had any regard for his personal safety. Deceased suffered a physical disability.
