The Senate overrode President Roosevelt's veto of the war veterans’ Bonus Bill by TO votes to 19. Tlie» measure lias become law. A. cable published on Monday stated that President Roosevelt sent Congress a 100-word message vetoing the veterans’ bonus payment, but within 20 minutes of its receipt the House overrode it hv the astounding vote of 324 to 01. It was the worst legislative, defeat President Roosevelt has so far received and indicated a similar defeat in the Senate. Under the scheme ,to pay the bonus by “baby bonds,” the Treasury will probably be forced to raise 1,500,000 dollars within a few months to cash bonds for veterans wishing for money.
