RISING REVENUE
POST AND TELEGRAPH DEPARTMENT FIGURES FOR NINE MONTHS (By Telegraph—Special to “The Mail”) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Postmaster-General, the Tlon. F. Jones, states that the business of the Department for the nine months ended 31st December indicates a general improvement in all branches. After paying interest oil capital charges amounting to £409,500, the net revenue totalled £2,669,816, an improvement on the corresponding period of the previous year of £165,500. The main Increases in revenue were distributed as follows: Pos-, tages £93,700, telegraph £7,000, tolls £40,000, telephones £36,300. The Minister added, that the telephonetoll business during the final quarter, of 1935 increased to the extent of 8.98 per cent., representing 424,555 additional messages, and an extra revenue of £10,544.
