NELSON AND MARLBOROUGH CAMP AT SHOW GROUNDS The Nelson-Marlborough Mounted Rifles annual camp is to commence at the Show Ground?, Blenheim, on Saturday, when it is expected that between ]f>o aud 200 troopers will lie under canvas (reports “The Express”). The various parts of the district as far south as Kaikoura will be represented, and a troop is expected to arrive from Nelson, via Topliouse in charge of Lieut. North. Although the camp will not officially commence until the week-end. an advance party will ho busy engaged from to-day in setting everthing in order in readiness for the arrival of the main body, the erection of tents and cook-houses and the construction of the horse lines, to say nothing of the transport of stores, equipment and supplies. Lieut.-Colonel A. 0. Nathan, T.D. of Blenheim, the regimental commander will he in charge of the cam]), and important visitors will he Colonel S. C. R. Nicliolls, D.S.O. (Christchurch), officer commanding the Southern Command, Lieut.-Colonel l’uttick, D. 5.0., ‘chief staff officer, Christchurch; Major W. I. K. Jennings, D. 5.0., Brigade Major, 3rd Mounted Brigade; and Colonel JT. Hurst. D. 5.0., Brigadier of the 3rd Mounted Brigade. The Regiment will be in camp for a period of 11 days, and, as usual, a concentrated schedule of training will he undertaken, an interesting departure on tin’s occasion, however, being the carrying out of a tactical scheme in the Eairhall and Omaka districts. This will have the co-operation of an Air Force ’plane from Christchurch, and the troopers will have their first experience of the co-ordination of air and land forces.

A start will he made on Sunday, after Church parade, with the field work, and the various phases of training will he undertaken on the subsequent days. Owing to the fact that the troops will he fully engaged no visitors are desired on the lirst Sunday, but 25th April (Anzac Day), will be'a big day, the camp sports being conducted in the afternoon. The usual Anzac Day parade will he held, followed by a mounted parade through the town. The camp will conclude on Ist May.
