THOUSANDS EXPELLED FROM PARTY
TRANSPORT DIFFICULTIES

LONDON, 18th August. “The Times” Riga correspondent states that following the alleged discovery of many anti-Commuinst plots, the Soviet expelled several thousand Communists from the party and arrested many as enemies of the people, borne were in key positions, and allegedly gained advancement by false pretences. Transport difficulties have increased since the railways were subjected to the emergency law. Seventy-eight transport wreckers were arrested at one station, and there have been similar occurrences elsewhere. The Ukranian Academy of Agriculture has been re-organised, and thirteen professors have been removed.
