WHEAT AND FLOUR
PROPOSED DUTIES ASHBURTON PROTEST (By Telegraph—Press Association) . ASHBURTON, 4Lh August. A largely-attended meeting of residents of tiie borough, convened by the Borough Council, unanimously carried the following resolution : "This meeting of ratepayers and residents of Ashburton Borough emphatically protests against the revision of the sliding scale of wheat and Hour duties as suggested in the Budget. We are strongly of opinion that the scale should he amended to a basis guaranteeing the grower 4s 9d a. bushel net on trucks at country stations, sacks extra for Tuscan, March-April deliveries. It was decided to send copies of the resolution to the Prime Minister and every member of Parliament.
