NEBI) FOR RELIEF (By Tolegraph—PrcHß Association) ASHBURTON, 4th August. A largo mooting of Melhven farmers carried a motion requesting that the Government grant immediate relict from land tax, especially the 1929 amendments, otherwise ’many farmers and pastoralists will ho compelled to leave their farms. Another motion carried by the meeting read as follows: “Failing Government action, farmers obtain the assistance of the Dominion Executive of the Farmers’ Union and Shcepowners’ Fed - oration in initiating a campaign to persuade Parliament and the country generally that unless some measure of relief is afforded to the farming community the primary industries must inevitably fail, bringing about the downfall of tiie Dominion.”
