THIRD RACE FOR SANDERS CUP ■ WON BY THE COLLEEN (By Telegraph—Press Association) DUNEDIN. 20th February." The third Sanders. Cup race was resailed to-day in a light north-easter over a windward and leeward course. Hie Colleen won by 35 seconds. All were in line at the start. The Rona was round the first mark three and a half minutes ahead of the Eileen. Then came the Avalon, Colleen, and Betty. With the wind astern the Colleen made up time on the leader, the Eileen, Betty and Avalon lying next. The Colleen weathered the Rona on the second beat to weather, and led by half a minute at the buoy, followed by the Eileen, Avalon, and Betty. The positions were unchanged after the run to the leeward mark, and the final round commenced with the Colleen leading the Rona by half a minute, the Eileen, Avalon, and Betty next on that order. The Colleen’s lead decreased to twenty seconds on the beat. The Avalon was nearly seven minutes later, and then came the Eileen and Betty. The race finished without alteration, the Colleen, Rona, Avalon, Eileen, and Betty. The Colleen’s time was 2hr 45min 46sec.

THE FOURTH RACE AWARDED TO THE COLLEEN DUNEDIN, This Day. The fourth race for the Sanders Cup was sailed yesterday over a triangular course in a light, tricky wind. Opening up a lead every minute the Auckland boat had the race well in hand, but the other crew were again dogged by ill-for-tune. The wind was very fluky when the fleet was on the run to the Vauxhall mark, i The Rona turned the mark with a lead -df 15 seconds. The Colleen, Ava lon 'and- Betty fetched the mark in a bunch, and when making the turn the Avalon’s bow fouled the Colleen’s stern. The Auckland boat continued in the race and it was a question whether she could finish within the time limit. The breeze held fresh and steady and the Avalon crossed the finishing line 2 minutes 15 seconds ahead of the Colleen.

After the boats had finished the judges called the skippers of the Avalon and the Betty together and noted evidence concerning the foul. A meeting of Dominion delegates decided that the Avalon was at fault and the race was awarded to the Colleen.

Tho sailing times were: Colleen, 2 hrs 54 min. 18 socs; Rona 2 hrs 55 min 41 sec; Eileen, 2 hrs 56 min 6 sec; Betty, 3 hrs 1 min 12 sec. The Avalon’s sailing time was 2 hrs "52 min 3 sec.
