BY CANADIAN FARMERS CANNOT COMPETE WITH AUSTRALIA (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) VANCOUVER, 19th February. A Victoria message states: —Declaring that Australian and New Zealand imports arc demoralising the dairy, sheep and allied industries in British Columbia, farmers’ institutes urged the Government to request the Dominion Government to safeguard them under the Treaty. It was frankly stated that they could not compete with Australian prices. They request that representations be made to the Imperial Conference for a ban on oriental immigation. FARMERS’ MARCH ON LEGISLATURE WASHINGTON, 19tli February. A message from Regina states that a thousand farmers marched to the Legislature, demanding enactment of a compulsory Grain Pool Act, as a remedy for low prices. The Minister of Agriculture promised the demonstration that the matter would be considered when the Bill was reached.
