From a penalty at half way Russell took the ball from his toe and play was carried to the 25, Grocott and Lusty heading a return rush. Allport, who was playing a good forward game, broke through, but was penalised for obstruction. , Wakatu now had the upper hand and Barnes got the ball away to Russell, to Chapman, who dashed over the line. Russell missed the uprights. Waimea 11, Wakatu 6. Waimea livened up and look play to the line and kept it there, but failed to score. Finally Wakatu cleared and Chapman, kicking and following, looked dangerous, but Fowler saved. Waimea cleared to half-way, McHarg and Hart going strongly. The ball came out to Craig, who dashed down the line, but Rogers upset him. Wakatu hammered away, the ball going into touch-in-goal. Waimea charged up from the kick-out. Rogers, being blocked near the line, sent a 20-yard pass to Watson, but Wakatu backs smothered. Willing play followed but the whistle sounded without further score.
