A WIN FOR OLD BOYS

Old Boys defeated Nelson in the junior grade at Trafalgar Bark by 10 points to 3, after a fairly even tussle. From the kick-off Nelson pressed, hut a Nelson forward knocked on. The ball was kicked through the scrum to bo forced down. Old Boys presented Nelson with a goal by offending just in front of the posts. Chapman kicked the goal. Nelson 3, Old Boys 0. WAIMEA V. RIVAL Waimea and Rival fought out a good even game at Richmond. From the commencement Waimea pressed continually. Rival being compelled to force several times. A penalty was given against Waimea and Heath just missed. Watson failed to take the ball and about six men pounced on it, a Rival man finally getting it. Heath converted. In the second hall Heath secured and scored behind the posts, missing an easy chance to add the extra points. Later in tho game Heath, after a good run, crosskicked to Harris, who scored a try in the corner. Rivals won by 11 points to nil. For the winners all the forwards were “triers.” Westley, McConchie, Heath and Harris were the best among the backs. For Waimea, Watson, Craig, Yaarka and O’Connor were the host of the forwards, while Wilson, McMahon, and Cook were prominent among the backs. The Waimea backs, with the exception of Cook, made the fatal cnor of tackling high. Their full back was weak. , With improvement in (his respect they should be a hard team to beat later on.
