LONDON NEWSPAPERS
“DAILY-CHRONICLE" SOLD
(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright)
LONDON, Ist June. The “News of the World’’ learns that negotiations have been completed for the purchase of the “Daily Chronicle bv the “Daily News.”
DRAMATIC SUDDENNESS
LONDON Ist June. (Received 2nd June, 1.5 p.m.) The “Chronicle’s” disappearance leaves the “Daily News”' the only Liberal London morning paper. Cessation was dramatically sudden. The staff were unaware of the position as late as Saturday, while the usual preparations were going on for the production of Monday’s paper. ft is pointed out that negotiations were completed only 48 hours ago. The remarkable success of the new “Daily Herald” (Labour) is believtad to be largely responsible for Liberalism combining the two newspapers.
