BURGLARS IN GARAGE

FIRE FOLLOWS EXPLOSION

FPRTY-SEVEN VEHICLES

DESTROYED

(United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright) MELBOURNE, 23rd March. Forty-four motor cars and three trucks were destroyed in the biggest fire seen at Geelong for fifteen years, when Margetts Motors Proprietary's premises were burned. The damage is estimated at from £16,000 to £17.000. Passers-by heard an explosion, and then two men ran to a moving car which dashed away. A fire broke out immediately afterwards.

It was later discovered that the sales room safe had been blown open. It contained only receipts, but another safe, which was untouched, held valuable documents and money.
