PARNELL SEAT
ANOTHER REFORM CANDIDATE (By Telegraph—Press Association) AUCKLAND, 22nd March. Mr A. J. Burrows, of Devonport, has announced his candidature in Reform Interests for the Parnell seat. ELECTION RUMOURS (By Telegraph—Special to "The Mail"? AUCKLAND, 22nd March. Mr E. H. Northcroft and Sir James Gunson are mentioned as likely Reform candidates for Parnell. The Reform League, however, denies these as rumours, as the Reform executive does not meet till Monday, when Mr Coates will be present. It is unofficially stated that Mr J. S. Dickson, former Parnell member, has no chance of the Reform nomination. Sir James Gunson is on his way to the United States on holiday. PARTY DELIBERATIONS (By Telegraph—Presß Association) AUCKLAND, 23rd March. The United Party met yesterday, but there was no progress in the selection of a candidate. The selection will probably be made on Friday. 'lhe first meeting of Reform supporters in Parnell to arrange the appointment of a delegate to the conference to select a candidate is to be held on Wednesday. > 'The Labour Representation Committee will meet on Tuesday evening to consider the situation.
The Leader of the Reform Party, Mr Coates, left for Wellington this evening and will return to Auckland within a few days. He had no statement to make on the choice of a candidate except that the usual procedure of convening a conference of delegates to make a selection will be followed.
A LIBERAL-LABOUR CANDIDATE
AUCKLAND, This Day. Mr W. C. Hewitt announces himself as a candidate for the Parnell seat in the Liberal-Labour interest. He contested City West unsuccessfully against Mr Parry in 1928.
