LITTLE CARGO OFFERING

DUNEDIN, This Day. The Union Steamship Company states that the quantity of cargo brought from Melbourne ,by the Maheno has been disappointingly' small. With a capacity for 2500 tons she has this trip only 652 tons respectively. For the last two vious trips she had only 320 and 837 tons respectively. oFr the last twfp trips the quantities for three South Island ports were—Bluff 93 and 40 tons, Dunedin 311 and 162, Lyttelton 212 and 103. In the absence of sufficient cargo, states the company, the passenger service she gives must entail a heavy loss, even with the Government subsidy.
