GIRL GUIDES

Motueka was visited by . Mis. 4 O’Rorke, Tlie Eagle Owl, head of all the Brownies in New Zealand. Miss O’Rorke devoted some time to the ’Guiders and at 3.30 p.m. the Guides 1 and Brownies mustered and were inspected. , ' _ .. Mrs Guy (captain of the Ngatimoti Girl Guides) attended with some of her Guides and the committee. The District Commissioner (Miss Gray), members of the committee, ' and friends were also present. • , ’ , After the inspection, Blanche York “flew up” from the Brownies ’and, joined the Guide Company. Ihe little ceremony was very pretty; and best wishes were extended to the new Guide for a happy and useful life with the Guides. , ~ ~ The Eagle Owl showed the Guides and Brownies some new games, which were interesting and instructive. She then gave a short account of Guiding in all its branches in England " and spoke of “Foxlease,” the beautiful property given to the whole Guide world by an American lady, lhrough the generosity of Princess Mary, who gave the main part of her wedding present from the JSmpire Marys, the Association were able to accept this property. O’Rorko described the various camps hold in the grounds and the beauty of the house and surroundings, making all present long to see it. Before the company broke up the district secretary announced that she had just received a letter from the provincial secretary stating that iMiss Thorp (Brown Owl) and Miss M. Wratt (Tawny Owl) bad both passed their warrant test papers. (Cheers). The Motue,ka\Giri Guide committee expressed pleasure at Miss O’Rorke’s visit and extended thanks to her for her instructions.
