EMPIRE THEATRE BIG PROGRAMME TO-NIGHT To-night at the Empire Theatre, Nelson theatregoers will have the opportunity of witnessing one of the best programmes ' yet screened in Nelson. There are two big specials on the programme. Feature one is A. S. M. Hutchinson’s latest and greatest novel “One Increasing Purpose,” starring Ed-, mund Lowe who was featured in “What Price Glory,” and a big all-star supporting cast including Lila Lee, May Allison, Holmes Herbert, Huntly Gordon, and Jane Novak. Picadilly Circus, one of the most famous and one of the busiest traffic centres in the world is shown among the famous scenes of London seen in this mighty Fox- production.

The other big feature on the hill is a big Paramount special entitled “New York,” a fascinating romance of New York’s night clubs, gayeties and shadows, glories and temptations. Every, name in the cast is a big name, Ricardo "Cortez, Lois Wilson. Estelle Taylor, William Powell and Norman Trevor. The whole entertainment will be accompanied by special musical numbers by the New Empire Orchestra, overture “‘Pique Dame,” entr’acte “La Serenata Braga,’ by the Vitetta Trio—harp, violin and flute. Coming Monday a big United Artists’ special, John Barrymore in “The Beloved Rogue,” his latest big success. SCHOOL OF MUSIC TO-NIGHT PARAMOUNT PICTURES The pick of Paramount films will be shown every Saturday and Monday (until completion of new. Paramount Theatre), commencing to-night with Thomas Meighan in “Tin Gods.” Thos. Meighan takes the part of a successful engineer who marries the wealthy Aileen Pringle. She is more set on a career than her home, and her • neglect- and political aspiration, is the cause of her child’s death. Tom has an offer to build a bridge at Andes and he accepts. In the South American township he tries to forget in drink. Pity is taken on’ him by Renee Adoree, a dancer. She nurses him through an illness and succeeds in making a man of him. Failing in politics Aileen Pringle comes in search of her husband. She learns of his affection for Renee Adoree, and the latter, taking the wrong meaning from Tom’s eagerness to meet his wife, commits suicide. It is a story with plenty of action and thrills. A first class comedy, also a scenic and news, are included'in the programme. There is one price -for admission;

THEATRE ROYAL DOUBLE ATTRACTION To-night at the Theatre Royal a double feature programme will be presented, comprising a big Universal production “The Ice Flood” starring Kenneth Harlan and Viola Dana. It is a swiftmoving intense, and gripping photoplay, packed with action, surprises and thrills. Viola Dana is her usually charming self as the feminine lead, and the supporting cast is excellently chosen. ~ Richard Talmadge in “The Wall Street Whiz” is the other big feature on. the hill. Talmadge’s latest role provides him witli more opportunity than usual for laugh-making, and he is not slow to take advantage of the chances offered him in this production which is fast- and funny from start to finish.
