IMPERIAL CONFERENCE DECISIONS
ARE THEY OPERATING IN NEW ZEALAND QUESTIONS IN THE HOUSE (By Telegraph) (From ‘‘The Mail’s” Parliamentary Reporter). WELLINGTON, This Day. Whether Parliament will have an opportunity of discussing the Imperial Conference report was a question put to tho Prime Minister hv the Leader of the Opposition when the House ot Kcpiesentatives met to-day. , “I understand,” said Mr Holland, “that the decisions of the Imperial Conference do not come into effect until they have been ratified by the Parliament of New Zealand and I would like to ask the Prime Minister whether the changes which had been made with lespect to His Excellency’s position are operating at the present time notwithstanding that the House has not yet ratified the decisions of the Conference. Mr Coates replied that he had had a statement prepared with reference to the Imperial Conference and lie was quite prepared to lay that on the table. He did not think there would be an opportunity of discussing the statement. Mr Holland : “We don t want it unless it is open for discussion. Mr Coates said that if opportunity arose he was prepared to have the s a ement discussed. Bo far as Ne\v Z< - land was concerned, proceeded --. Coates, there had been no change in His Excellency’s position. New Zealand did not ask for a change.
