ASSAULT AND ROBBERY
SENSATIONAL AFFAIR AT BLUFF

INVERCARGILL, Ist Dec. A sensational affair is reported from Bluff, where Mr Arthur Valentine, accountant to the Harbour Board, was found about 10.30 this morning lying unconscious in the board’s office with a wound on his head, and the sum of approximately £2OO missing, and presumably taken by the assailant. Mr Valentine states that lie was making up the pay-sheets when he re T ceived a violent blow from behind. He remembered nothing until the police arrived an hour later. At the time of the occurrence most, of the Bluff people were on.the wharf seeing the new lug Southland off on her trip to Stewart Island. Detectives arc investigating the affair.
