FEATHERED FANCY

N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL MEETING OF SHAPE

HOLDERS

The annual meeting of shareholders of the N.Z. Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Championship Association was held last evening, Mr A If. Robinson presiding. In connection with the association's request for permission to again conduct an art union in connection with the annual shows, the chairman stated that he and the secretary had interviewed Mr H, Atmore, M.P., and placed the position before him, pointing out that for many years past poultry associations had been permitted to run art unions, mainly as a financial precaution against a wet show period. Mr Atmore undertook to see the Minister of Internal Affairs, and has now wired that he has interviewed the Hon. R. F. Bollard, who had promised to bring the matter before Cabinet.

The balance sheet showed a profit of £23 on the year's working, and that the financial position was entirely satisfactory.

Commenting on the finances, the chairman expressed pleasure at the healthy position disclosed. He recalled that when what was practically a Nelson committee took over the "management, the position of the association appeared hopeless, but as a result of the care and attention of the committee""ihe association had been pulled round. All debts had been paid, and there were sufficient assets to pay off loans and meet the full share liability. Should the affiliated societies desire to take over and manage the association, and the shareholders consented to this course, itcould now be done at a trifling cost to the association.

The balance sheet was then adopted Officers were elected as follows: President, Mr. All'. Robinson : board of management. Messrs J. A. Stringer E. D. Barry, E,. 13. Martin, and W. H. Simpson (Nelson); W. B. McKenzie (Wellington); with (subject to approval of affiliated societies) Messrs G. Miller (Wellington), R. Wanden (Marlborough) and W. Hart (Hastings). It was decided to hold a special meeting to consider the terms on which the association might be handed ever to affiliated societies. -
