Mrs W T.or-!;, formerly Mayoress of Nelson, has been appointed a Justice of the Peace. This distinction is a rather uncommon one, there being few women justices in the dominion. Mv* Lock holds the M.8.E.; also the diploma and medaille do la Peine Elisabelt, conferred on her by Belgium in recognition of her distinguished service on behalf of Ihe Belgium Relief Fund dining the War. Dr. R, ,7. Tillyard, of the Cawthron Institute, is at present in Wellington. i\i\(] while there will address the annual conference of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers' Federation.
