ROAD BOARD MEETING

At tlie monthly meeting of the Riwnka Rond Board members present were: Messrs L. Drumomnd (chairman), J. A. Askew, T. Cook, C. P. Fry, and L. Francois.

The Board decided to pay the extra cost- of survey from foot of iiill to mudflat through Section E. Bile XI Kai. S.D. for purpose of public rood. Property owners permitting noxious weeds to encroach on roads are to be notified to clear.

The foreman reported (inter alia): Wharf road : A culvert lias been placed across this rend of 18 inch pipes and approaches filled and metalled. Shaggcry road has been metalled where necessary. Dnlira DOOll road lias been appreciably repaired. The culvert placed on Brooklyn Valley road is very satisfactory; two slips have come dowtn higher up the road and removal at once is necessary. The Brooklyn crock, lie said, required protective work to stay the obvious encroachment. Riwnkn Valley road: Several days were spent in metalling, clearing water tables and culverts and cutting overhanging scrub. Several days’ work on the Sandy Bay road has been done, but as the Resident Engineer intends giving the Sandy Bay road his attention, further work was deferred. Work in the Kailaritari road is not completed, but will lie gone on with later. Various bridges have been reinstated and should be sulisfactoty for traffic for a good period. Cheques totalling £79 4s 6d were passed for payment.
