SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT WON, BY US Aif B’s. Too usual seven •a side football tourns,inetii was played on. the Takaka .Show Ground on" lire owl June, when there was .a good attendance of spectators. The Cnllingwiiod Club showed their lack of interest in. the tournament by not sending a team down, and it is hoped that in future this ciuii will not leave it all to the local teams to uphold the sub-union in their fixtures, especially when their financial position is very weak. In the evening a hall was held (under the auspices of the sub-union) in the Golden tlay theatre, and a most enjoyable evening was spent ,by all present. During a short interval Mr K. H. Keary (President of the sub-union), presented a gold medal (donated by Mrs Davies, of Nelson) to Mr R. Prince, for the most improved player for 1926. 'I lie trophy is a nu:. :. coveted one, and has helped to improve the standard of play among the juniors of the club. Mr W. W. Allan, secretary of the sun-Union, was also called upon to make a presentation to Mr 0. I'ratley, a keen, footballer, who lias been transferred to Wellington. THE PLAY There were some keen, contests for supremacy in the various games. The final of the senior was won by Bays and the junior by Bays B. SENIORS (Semi-final) In the semi-final between Bays A. and 15. teams, IVs kicked off. Sadd scored easily, with a good run and .T. Reilly goalud.— IVs 50. Wilkes sent to l.ash who scored between the posts. Lash’s kick at goal was unsuccessful. —B’s 8-0. The A’s were forced by a forward rush, when Sadd secured the oval and again dashed over. Lash made a poor attempt at goal. The half time score was B’s 11, vVs 0. From kick off Wilkes secured, made a fine opening and transferred to Lash who had a clear run through. Jack Reilly added the additional points.—B’s 16-0. From the mid-field Wilkes sent to Sadd who made over the line at tap and scored by the corner flag. Sadd’s shot at goal fell short. —B’s 19-0. Wright made a bid to cross B’s line, and transferred to Kerr who dived over. Ngliane just missed the goal.—A’s 3-19. B’s pressed to A’s line and from the ruck Wilkes sent try Lash who got over. Hume’s kick at goal was fruitless.—B’s 22-3. Final.

The final was played between Tarakohe and Bays B. ‘ Ngliane replaced Wilkes in the B team. Lash opened the scoring running in from half-way. J. Reilly missed the kick. Bays 3-0. Crossdalo dribbled to near Bay’s lipe., and Ngliane effected a good save. J. Reilly broke through from half way and scored. Jefferies kicked a good goal.— Bays 8-0. Tarakohe dribbled over the line and Lash forced. Again Tarakohe pressed and after an exciting run Hick; mott scored. Haase missed at goal.— Tarakohe 3-8. Tarakohe forced to Bay’s line, and from a penalty Crossdalo narrowly missed the upright. R. Jefferies was playing a. heady game. Crossdale again dribbled up the field and scored between the posts, Raharulii made a good attempt at goal.—Bays 8-6. Bays opened up with a good passing bout to Tarakohe’s twenty-five, when Ngliane made a solo run to Sadd to Reilly who diver over. Jeffries goaled.—Bays 13, Tarakohe 6.

The. winning team comprised J. Reilly (captain), Ngahene, Y T . Sadd, A. Lasli, M. Lindsay, P. Jeffries and T. Ilurne.

JUNIOR FINAL Tho junior final was played between Bays A. and B. teams Jeffries kicked off and Newman secured and after a good run scored between the posts. Jefferies failed to convert. B’s 3-0. The B’s pressed again and Gilligan forced. Newman passed to Hume who dashed over. Ward kicked a nice goal.—B’s 8-0. From a penalty at the 25 Harwood made an unsuccessful shot at goal, when half-time sounded. In (he second spell Kerr secured from half-way and beating the whole field scored between (lie posts. Ward added the major points. B’s 13, A’s 0.

GOLDEN BAY 3. COLLINGWOOD 6

The first match for the Charity Cup competition, was played on the Takaka ►Show-Ground on Saturday last, before a record attendance, Collingwood being victorious by 6 to 3., All the points were obtained by penalties. The game was bright and interesting throughout, and some very good football was exhibited. Mr W. Winter officiated with the whistle.
