- FOOTBALL WAIMEA CLUB AND ITS SUPPORTERS The Management Committee of the Waimea Football Club is having a trying time just now endeavouring to keep I the game going in Richmond A sue cession of accidents has incapacitated so many senior players that the ju/sim and third class teams have become completely disorganised, and even now several veteran players have rejoined the ranks to keep the senior team in tho competition • A meeting'was held on Salut-day evening to see wlia.l, could he done to improve matters, and the opinion was freely expressed that, unless the players took a more active interest, in! the game tin- cluli would tie forced to withdraw from the competition. .The club lias beiji in existomfor 22 years, and it will lie a pity if it is allowed to ‘fizzle out,’ after a long period of active play. However the Management (.'•ninnutter is doing everything possible in keep tinflag flying, and it, is hoped that (Mayers will show increased interest in i-lic wo! fare of the dug, Fortunately tho juvenile players under Sid, Cmuelir-r’s tut'elegc, are as keen mustard, and so far have liomi undefeated in the fourth class competition. This augurs well for the senior teams of the future, and :if they can carry on for a year or two, no doubt the swing of the pendulum will restore prosperity.
