BOTTLE THROWN AT ENGINE DRIVER

When the train to Pahnerston North from Napier was near Terrace End station last night one of two men '-landing on the side of the track threw a bottle containing liquid at the driver of the train, missing his head by inches. The bottle struck the upper ledge of the engine cab at the back of driver Lcwin's head smashing to pieces on tic ironwork. The men were not under the influence of liquor, as they were seen running swiftly away. The smell of liquid from the bottle was somewhat similar to alcohol yet not like any a Idiotic beverage. The train at the lime of the incident was travelling about :10 miles an hour.
