NELSON SCHOOL CHILDREN

PROPOSED VISIT TO AMERICAN FLEET

ARRANGEMENTS BEING MADE At the monthly meeting of the Hampden -Street School Committee last- evening, the secretary reported that there is a possibility of a party of Nelson City school children visiting Wellington during the stay of the American fleet at that port next month. The proposal is for the children to go- over in the Ngaio, and to have an excursion round the Wellington harbour in- the morning, followed by a visit to one or more warships, and in the afternoon to visit the Zoo at Newtown and the Botanical Gardens. The Wellington Education Board has offered facilities and tentative arrangements have been made. The Secretary of the Nelson Education Board (Mr 11. J. Thornton) has the matter in hand a'nd as soon as certain information comes forward from the Minister of Internal Affairs a meeting of the headmasters will he called to consider the proposal.
