The chairman then introduced the Murchison school question ; and 31 r Borking, as chairman of the school committee, moved that- this meeting considers the Murchison school is altogether inadequate to requirements; also that the present site is not suitable and that the Nelson Education Board be urged to take immediate steps to have t lie school enlarged and erected on a sit,; more central, than the proposed site at. the eastern end of the township, and that a copy of this resolution he forwarded to (lie Nelson Education Board. jßeeoeidetl by Mrs Wilkinson and carried. Mr Eraser moved that the Murchison school committee, be requested to make, exhaustive enquiries as to the best and most suitable site for the school; and report to the forthcoming householders meeting. Mrs Wilkinson, Mrs Hayes, [Messrs Haves, Cole, Wvlie and Ilodgkinson spoke on this question, and on the chairman putting the motion declared it, carried. * Tile chairman referred to the question of liio cottage and maternity hospital and urged upon ail ratepayers and nonratepayers to respond liberally to the appeal of the County Council. Mr Eraser moved “'I hat in the opinion of this meeting it- is desirable to ferm a- town planning and beautifying society,’' and pointed out the good such a society would lie to the town. Seconded by Mr Cole and carried. ■Mr Bredbury referred to the dangerous state of the bridge near the Council Chamber, and expressed his fears that some serious accident would happen unless something was done, and after an animated discussion it was unanimously resolved that this representative meeting of the citizens of Murchison respectfully request the County Council to urge upon the Public Works Department, to construct a concrete culvert over the creek the whole width of the street in place of the antiquated structure which is quite inadequate to carry the Ira flic in safety to the public.
