WELLINGTON, This Day. As the year draws to a dose the railway returns, viewer! in the light of necessary ■ retrenchment and of last year’s records, appear to be becoming more healthy. Official reports circulated yesterday afford an interesting comparison of the relative revenue and expenditure for the'latest four weekly period. The revenue received was £451,504 compared with £445,004. and the expenditure £411,260 compared with £446,711 for the corresponding four weeks of last year. Thus, while the revenue and expenditure were equal last year, for the four weeks this year there is a surplus of over £40,000.
