COST OF LIVING IN BRITAIN (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association) LONDON, March 18. British official indent figures of cost of living snow a decline of 10. points in February. They stood at 141 per cent above pre-war at Ist March, compared with 176 iu November, when thev reached the maximum. It is calculated that 35 points decline represents half-a-crown in the pound reduction, mainly in food prices, but clothes, personal and household necessities contribute to the fall, which considerably affects the wages sliding, scale basis. Railwaymen from Ist April will be entitled to 4s less weekly, equivalent to £7,200,000 annually off the national bill.
