atr Dillon, Leader of the Irish Party., in a manifesto addressed:' to Americans, urges them to await statements' by the Irish mission before accepting the version of the British Government. The manifesto begs America to urge ■Britain to apply to Ireland President Wilson's principles of self-determination.

LONDON, May 17. The Press Bureau reports that Lord Rhondda will abolish meatless days m eating places as from May 17th.
AMERICAN LABOUR DELEGATION
RECEPTION AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE.

The King and Queen gave a reception at Buckingham Palace to the American Labour Delegation. The King, in welcoming them, said.: "It has always been my dream, which the war has fulfilled, that the British and American nations should wprk together in close harmonious relations towards the'ideal of the progress of the civilisation commoii to both peoples. He hoped that after the war they would continue to stand together. .„,..■ . Mr McCormick. one. of the delegates, assured the, King that the delegation was impressed with the magnitude of Britain's effoTt. America would not be behind with her contribution to the common cause.
ATTITUDE OF HERZOG.
WELL NOT AID RECRUITING

Colonel Kelly, V.0., in the course oi a recruiting spech at Johannesburg, asserted that General Hertzog and the leaders of the Nationalists had. stated that they would assit him ..in pesttuig recruits, and that they favoured maintaining a' brigade in France. General" Hertzog now denies that there is any foundation for the statements. He declares that ho is not in favour of the Union taking part in the war; lie wants peace, «iot more war.
