Mr O. M. Schwab (Director of United States Shipping Construction) says he expects the production of three _or four ten-thousand ton ships daily. "This month," he says, "we will place one ten-thousand tonner every day; by October two; by the middle of next year three or four." Government concrete shipbuilding yards, at a cost of £2,000.000, will be erected at Oakland, California, employing 4,000 men. It is expected the output will be 400,000 tons, and an average launching of one ship a week.
