AUCKLAND, May 16
Eleven months as. a prisoner in Germany was the experience of Private IBertTOxlev. of Kingsland, who returned vesterday. . He was wounded in trench, raid near Armcntieres, and was left in a German trench suffering fror eight wounds. /He was sent to a. German hospital in Fiance, where he re ceived fair treatment". While" in Germany Private Oxley enuured. very severe conditons, particularly in regard to food, and' his weignt dropped from 12s1> to Bst. "Things are certainly very bad in Germany, ;he said. "I was at Pachei, Cologne, Juhch and Mannheim, and.was able to see J.ne privations of ; the people. &hop windows are always empty, and, potato Queues often could not be supplied.
