REPORT OF PETITIONS COMMITTEE. . SHORTENING 'OF HOTEL HOURS RECOMMENDED. (By Telegraph.—Ow n Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The M to Z Petitions Committee _ reported to the House of Representatives this afternoon as follows:—"The Committee havinsr considered evidence given on the Anti-Sliouting and Six o'clock Closing Petitions, recommends the Government to pass anti-shouting legislation similar to what was passed' by the British. .Government. "The Committee recognises that the shortening of hours for the retail sale of liquor during the war period /would undoubtedly lessen drinking, and so I contribute to the financial strength of the Dominion and the physical,and moral good and efficiency of the people. The Committee therefore recommends the 1 prayers of the petitioners to the favourable consideration of the Government."
