Tho death occurred at lier residence, Tasnnan street, Jast evening of Mi's Elizabeth Green, widow of 'the late John Edward Green, at the advanced 1 age of 91 years. Mr and' Mrs 'Green cp.nie to New Zealand from England many years ago, and settled in- .>. where the family has s.nce resided. For some years Mrs Green, conducted a private school, through which a large number of children passed. Mrs Green leaves a family of several, sons and daughters. Mt A. H. Baltrop, Wairoea; road, hasreceived word-' from the Minister of Defence to say that his son, Private Frank Barltrop has been wounded in France. Mr A. 'R .Lentha.ll, of Cable Bay Staff, who has been m .private h-o&pital for some weeks is making satisfactory progress towards recovery. The name of Lam ce- Corporal Arthur 'Hienry Rose appears in yesterday's list of wounded'. He is a son of Mr J- 1' • Rose, Takaka. Tihe d'eaith occurred at Fteildiinig to-day of. Mr George Karton, for 40 years a resident of Feildimg, agedl 76. He /was formerly part-proprietor of the F'eildimg gitar.—Press Association.
