THE MEAT COMBINE.
FURTHER COMPLAINTS AT SYDNEY. "'CORNERING" ABATTOIR SPACE PROMPT GOVERNMENT ACTION TAKEN. Press Association. —Copybiqht, (Rec. 9.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, Wednesday. A deputation informed Mr. Flowers, Acting-Minister for Trade, that the Meat Combine had "cornered" slaughtering space at the abattoirs, and that although not using it themselves they refused-to allow others to use it, thereby hampering trade. Mr. Flowers professed amazement at the statements, and declared emphatically that the Department would not tolerate such conditions, even if they had to cancel abattoir leases. The matter would be remedied in such a manner, that there would be no possibility of a recurrence of the complaint.
