THE AUCKLAND PLAGUE OUTBREAK.

PRECAUTIONS IN OTHER PARTS.

A. Health Department bulletin, dated June 10th, in reference to the' plague outbreak at Auckland, was read at last- night's meeting of theNelson City Council. The bulletin stated that the number of patients l under treatment at that date was 4; admitted during the week 0; died 0; discharged 2. The last patient was admitted on" Sth May. The number of rats examined for the week ending June ,10th was 59; no infected rats were found; and no rats suspected of infection. The dat.e on which the last plague-infected rat was found was May 31st. Regulations for the purpose of preventing or checking the spread of infectious disease were received fro.m the Public Health Departriiont, particularly with reference to the destruction of rats. The Secretary to- the Hospital Board, in- vie\v' of the outbreak of plague in Auckland', requested the Council to take active measures for the destruction of rats- and the prevention 0 f plague in this district. It was resolved to inform the Hospital Board t.hat the taking action in the direction desired.
