[Uotthd Pbess Association.] DUNEDIN, Monday. Joe Strott (Scott?), champion long distance walker, died yesterday of cancer in the throat. His principal record was 63 miles 1510 yards, in 72 hours, 12 hours a day, in England; and 100 miles in 18 hours in Dunedin. WELLINGTON, Monday. Since the City Council acquired the private lighting business of the Electrical syndicate there has been a great expansion and extension of plant, and larger premises have become absolutely necessary. A new Babcock boiler has rjeen installed, and a contract for a big extension to the building has just been signed. The successful tenderers are Mace and Nicholson,.^ Wellington firm, the contract price being £9946. __
